When no one cares
“I am worn out calling for help…”
Psalm 69:3 (NIV)
It was not that many years ago when a certain boy’s parents decided to split. Neither wanted their son so when the day came for the movers to empty the home they told him to go and find a comfortable park bench to sleep on. It was hard for me to fathom such a thing happening.
I had often heard of parents in 3rd world countries taking one or another of their young children to a city and deserting them there because they could not find food for them. The parents hoped the child would find food and shelter where they were abandoned.
Being raised in a normal Canadian home with a Christian mother, I did not understand how parents could desert their own flesh and blood. Having my own children and grandchildren I am even more mystified about how parents can do such a thing. I do not sit in judgment on them having never lived in the dreadful poverty these parents do.
