December 2002 Newsletter

Time seems to pass so quickly and we wonder if we have accomplished all we should have for the Lord. We rejoice in the opportunities that have come our way and we have seen the hand of the Lord working faithfully in response to prayer.

The young man in the Toronto West Detention Center has professed faith in Christ and we wait to see the fruit of the Spirit in his life. He will be detained for some time and his faith will be tested. I arranged for him to have a Bible and he is reading it daily during his prayer time.

Already some Christians have told me that they have received their advertising from Elim Lodge for the 2003 season and are planning on being there the week I speak. I am there the week of June 28 – July 4 and would welcome any who could come. One person is coming from as far away as Winnipeg! You may contact Elim Lodge at 1-800-420-6287. Their e-mail address is elim@peterboro.net. It is a wonderful place for fellowship and ministry.

On Sept. 20 my mother gently passed from this world into heaven to be with her Saviour. She was a real prayer warrior and spent hours a day in prayer and supplication. We miss her for many reasons not the least of which is her intercession.

Another leader in crisis has contacted us and we have been seeking to minister grace on a regular basis as he walks a new and unfamiliar road. Sadly the Lord’s people do not seem eager to help the man recover but rather are making the process even more difficult for him. We need to be more compassionate to those in trouble and need to reach out in love to minister grace to our own wounded.

A wonderful time was had at our information meeting Nov. 9. It was well attended and the spirit of the gathering was one of celebration and thanksgiving for the Lord’s blessing on us.

A cancer patient I have been ministering to went to heaven recently and we thank the Lord for his peaceful departure. We grow attached to these dear people as we minister to them and grieve when they are taken. This particular person was a relatively new Christian and we met regularly to discuss the Scriptures. He always had a list of questions for me to answer and it was a joy to be with him.

I attended my first meeting as a board member for Greater Europe Mission and it was a delightful experience. This mission is very well run and is doing and outstanding work in Europe.

We look forward to Advent and celebrating Christmas with family, friends and people who would otherwise spend Christmas alone. The glorious carols of the past are full of wonderful theology and glorious descriptions of our Redeemer. It seems a shame to only sing them for a couple of Sundays a year.

We wish to extend to you and yours the warmest of greetings at this holy and happy time of the year and pray you shall have a blessed new year. Thank you for all your care of us. The Lord is good.
