Newsletter Update for March 2005

New Works
Speaking engagements have picked up in volume recently. Whereas I was speaking only Sunday mornings for several years, I now have other venues to minister publicly to various groups.

Men’s groups, seniors groups, and conferences, are among the uses of my gift. For these opportunities I am very thankful.

Interim Ministry
Presently I am giving a modest amount of time to a tiny church in Toronto, which is seeking to return to former days of active ministry in the community. The Sundays I am free of preaching I have given to shepherding these “pastorless” people. They are an older group and need to have some young families join them to help in the work.
Discipling
Recently I connected with two more young men in leadership in their local churches. I have been asked to become involved with them to disciple them in spiritual disciplines and help them in the ministries they are seeking to perform in their local churches. It’s always a blessing to work with young m en who have their lives ahead of them to work for the Lord.
Counselling
The counselling ministry continues to cover a range of issues from crisis intervention to premarital counselling. If you or someone you know would like to speak to me, please call.
Men’s Bible Study
My men’s Bible study continues to meet twice monthly, (1st & 3rd Thursdays at 7:30 pm). We are currently working through a book entitled The Measure of a Man.
Programs to Consider
Perhaps your church might profit from a Helping the Hurting seminar where Susan and I teach on how to intervene with those in pain and comfort them from Scripture and in temporal ways as well. Please contact us if you could host such an outreach. We would love to help.
Sharpening the Saw
Because of the increase in speaking each week this winter, I have not been able to take a course at Seminary this term. I hope to take a one-week module this spring or summer. The stimulation of the classroom and my love of learning mean that I miss the teaching when my schedule crowds it out.

Susan’s Bible Study
Susan’s Thursday morning Ladies Bible Study at Oakridge Bible Chapel is currently working through Ephesians.
Susan’s Ministry
Susan has had several ladies days and conferences to speak at this winter. She had developed quite a following for the exercise of her gift. Also, she keeps active mentoring several women each week. Then she seeks to keep me organized and on top of my work.
Family News
In May we will welcome our 5th grandchild, in April our oldest daughter will be moving to Vancouver while our youngest daughter graduates from Mohawk College.

We are also so grateful for some very good friends who are flying Susan to Florida for a week of holidays with them. We are delighted by God’s wonderful provision of even “relaxation” through the the saints who are in the earth . . . the majestic ones in whom is all “our” delight. (Psalm 16:3)
