An excellent week of ministry was enjoyed at Elim Lodge near Peterborough in early August this year where Gordon preached on the trials and death of Jesus Christ. Many attending the conference ordered the tapes as a result of hearing the sermons. If you would like a set of the tapes please contact the conference at 1-800-420-6287; or 1-705-657-8306.

Several seminars on How to Drugproof Your Kids are scheduled for this fall and winter. Gordon is very excited about this excellent educational tool for all who deal with young people. It has been created by Focus on the Family and includes such topics as why kids take drugs, learning to intervene, prevention tools for parents and how to educate kids to make good choices. If your church would like to know more about having such a seminar in your community contact Gordon at gbr@sympatico.ca or visit the website at www.dpyk.ca

Every Sunday is occupied with preaching for Gordon and Sundays are being booked into 2008. We praise the Lord for allowing us to minister in this manner.

Susan ministered at seven women’s conferences this past winter and spring in Canada and the U.S. She has developed an excellent following for herself and we thank the Lord for allowing her gift to be used so extensively.

Who ministers to the minister?
This past winter Gordon has been introduced to a very fine young Romanian Baptist minister who immigrated with his family to Canada a year ago. His English is very good and he has developed a strong friendship with Gordon as a Paul – Timothy relationship has blossomed.

He desires to learn the Canadian way of doing ministry and wants to grow into a strong leader in the Lord’s work. He often phones or emails Gordon to enquire about matters of ministry and how to deal with issues in his church.

Each month he and Gordon meet to pray and discuss the Scriptures. Books are lent to him from Gordon’s library and he is an eager and attentive learner. Gordon feels privileged to work with such a fine man of God and to have such an influence in his life and work.

The ministry can be a lonely place to live as those who minister are assumed to never have the common problems of Christians and to never need much help in the Christian pilgrimage.

To have an experienced mentor assist you and give you the wisdom of their many years of experience is invaluable in the ministry. This method is following Paul’s exhortation to Timothy in 2 Tim. 2:2 where Paul tells Timothy to commit the teaching to faithful men who can teach others also.
