“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

The hurt of the past,
You carried me through.
I trust you and want only,
Your will to do.

Where in this season
Do you want I should stand?
If to ache in my soul,
I will meet your demand.

Seeking your strength,
As I’m just formed of dust,
To stand and be still,
To surrender to trust.

You lead me, You trust me
Trust me yet more,
I gladly give all,
To who all my sins bore.

How selfish my focus
When compared to your pain,
How inward I dwell Lord,
When outward is gain.

Create in me caring,
On wings of a dove.
Descend on and keep me
In tenderest love.

  1. Jean Gibbons says:

Faith to step into this blessed surrender is something I strive for. It often takes a willful determination to halt any thought that leads me down paths of doubt. I tell myself “it’s a dead end” and then I must choose to look at what I do know when it comes to God rather then dwell on what I do NOT know.
    Appreciate the poem.
