Secure Eternally

“Turn to me and be saved,
all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.”
Isaiah 45:22 (NIV)

“Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.
Psalm 62:1-2 (NIV)

The pandemic we are presently enduring creates anxiety for many. When will we get the inoculations? Will they be effective? Will I become infected? Will I die from it? So many questions can be anxiety producing and people search for security in a very insecure world.

It is true the events of this life can be very unsettling for all of us. Thus we need to search Scripture for teaching that strengthens our faith and gives us hope for the future beyond the present dilemma. A wonderful prayer is the one Paul writes to the Ephesian believers: Ephesians 1:18-19 (NIV)

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened
in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you,
the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,
and his incomparably great power for us who believe…”

The Lord has blessed His people with a great hope that will be fully experienced by us at the consummation of the ages. Keeping this hope before us makes us eternally secure.

Consider today what gives you security in this life. Money? A paid off mortgage? Physical health? Or do you turn to your sovereign God for the security and hope we all need in turbulent times? Only in the secure hands of our loving heavenly Father will we be eternally secure and full of hope for the future.

Today may you rest in the firm and secure arms of your beloved Saviour and know that no one nor anything can take you out of His wonderful protection. You will be preserved by Him Who chose you in Christ before the foundation of the world Ephesians 1:4 (NIV).

My hope is in the Lord
Who gave Himself for me
And paid the price
Of all my sin at Calvary.

For me He died;
For me He lives,
And everlasting life
And light He freely gives.

No merit of my own
His anger to suppress
My only hope is found
In Jesus’ righteousness

And now for me He stands
Before the Father’s throne
He shows His wounded hands
And names me as His own

His grace has planned it all
‘Tis mine but to believe
And recognize His work of love
And Christ receive

For me he died
For me he lives
And everlasting life
And light He freely gives
