Secure Forever

“All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: ‘What have you done?’”
Daniel 4:35 (NIV)

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish;
no one will snatch them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all;
no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
I and the Father are one.”
John 10:28-30 (NIV)

The security of the believer is much on my mind lately. It seems so marvelous to reflect on how carefully our beloved Good Shepherd speaks to us of our security as His sheep. Reading the words of our Redeemer give us great encouragement as we face the various trials and struggles of life.

When we have individuals come to help us it is comforting indeed. However, when a sovereign God speaks of keeping His people safe it is a promise on a much higher level. The Lord’s promises must be fulfilled because no one nor anything can stop the Lord as He fulfils His covenant made to His people.

“All the peoples of the earth
are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases
with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: “What have you done?”
Daniel 4:35 (NIV)

Believer you should pause today and ponder these Scriptures, perhaps even memorizing them to recite when Satan comes calling seeking to disturb your peace and joy in your Good Shepherd. Satan is a liar and the father of lies. Beware of examining the seeds of doubt he throws at you. Be rid of all his lies and maintain your confidence in the One Who loves you and died for you.

Read A.Toplady’s wonderful poem below and use its beautifully expressed thoughts to assist you in defeating the enemy of your soul. May today be a day of rich blessing as you rest secure in the loving arms of your Good Shepherd.

A debtor to mercy alone,
of covenant mercy I sing;
nor fear, with your righteousness on,
my person and off’ring to bring.
The terrors of law and of God with me
can have nothing to do;
my Savior’s obedience and blood
hide all my transgressions from view.

The works which his goodness began,
the arm of his strength will complete;
his promise is yea and amen,
and never was forfeited yet.
Things future, nor things that are now,
nor all things below or above,
can make him his purpose forgo,
or sever my soul from his love.

My name from the palms of his hands
eternity will not erase;
impressed on his heart it remains,
in marks of indelible grace.
Yes, I to the end shall endure,
as sure as the earnest is giv’n;
more happy, but not more secure,
the glorified spirits in heav’n.
