A Promise Kept

People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.
Isaiah 30:19 (NIV)

Most of us who are mature adults can look back in our lives and see situations where we made promises that we didn't keep. It wasn't that we didn't intend to keep the promise, rather it was that we had some difficulty in the way of keeping it.

Perhaps we didn't have the finances to keep the promise. Or health reasons kept us from fulfilling the promise made. Whatever the reason, it was unexpected. We didn't set out to deceive the person to whom we made the promise.

Since we can't know the future, and as we're creatures of limited resources, there may come times when we find ourselves unable keep a promise.

This isn't the case with our Creator. His knowledge is complete and His power and resources are beyond measure. Therefore He is able to keep all of His promises.

We need to remind ourselves often of the character of our God in order to feed our faith and clear the clouds of doubt from our eyes. Many times we stumble because we have forgotten that our God will always bring us through any tribulation or trial.

A statement by the apostle Paul is very encouraging to the downhearted. "The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it." 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NIV)

God is always true to His word and we should never doubt His promises. Every promise the Lord makes is a promise kept.

It's wonderful to imagine the Lord wiping away all the tears of His children.

How gentle He is, as gentle as a nursing mother. His tender heart is full of compassion for His people.

He desires our complete trust because He deserves it.

He has never broken a promise He has made. This should cause us to be full of confidence as we come to Him seeking what we need for in our life.

Listen to the gracious words of Jesus:

"In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete." John 16:23-24 (NIV)

Often the Lord is more eager to give that we are to ask. Complete joy comes through answered prayer. Cease hesitating and ask for the needed help. He hears and shall answer before you even ask.
