Prince Of Peace

‘“For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 (NASB)

“…the kingdom of God is within you.”
Matthew 12:28

“Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.
John 14:27 (NASB)

As the history of wars is studied, it becomes evident that from the 14th century to the present, the number of wars of each century increased greatly.

The 20th century has seen two global wars, both of which saw deaths registered on a staggering scale. WW1 was called “The war to end all wars”. Sadly, within a couple of decades, the world was involved in a second world war that was the deadliest ever.

With the advent of nuclear weapons, a precarious silence of global war has been witnessed since 1945. It would be hoped that countries wishing to engage in war will not use nuclear bombs or bacteriological devices.

The message of Christmas is that the Prince of peace has come and has established His presence in the hearts and lives of His people. This is one reason why many Christians register as objectors to taking up arms. They often take clerical or manual labour jobs to participate in nonviolent activities in wartime.

But we know that peace in the world will not be established until the second coming of the Prince of peace—to fully establish His visible, universal reign forever.

We may have our own notions of how the Babe in the manger will return and what will precede His coming, but all agree He will return some day in the future. We all long for the coming to happen sooner rather than later. So be thankful for the many promises of His second coming! Be ready as He commands us.

How glorious His return will be. He came once privately—every eye will see Him when He returns. He came once to be a Redeemer of many—He will return as Judge of all.

Are you ready for His return? Do you dread or rejoice to think of seeing Him?

Does He reign in your heart? Is He your Prince of peace today? If not, why not?

Come to Him in repentance and humility today and all fear of His return will vanish. You will celebrate His first coming happily and will joyfully look for His return. “Even so come Lord Jesus” (Rev. 22:20 KJV).

Joy to the World, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy

No more let sins and sorrows grow
Nor thorns infest the ground
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found
Far as the curse is found
Far as, far as, the curse is found

He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders, of His love
